3,000 m2 freezer warehouse for Isbjørn Is on the island of Askøy The factory has signed a 15-year lease.

The new freezer warehouse, which is right next to the existing factory, will give the ice cream maker storage capacity for 3,000 pallets. Isbjørn Is is Norway’s third largest ice cream producer, and according to a press release its sales grew by over 20 percent in 2018. Traditionally, the ice cream made here was only sold in shops in Western Norway, while the subsidiary Den norske isbilen was responsible for distribution to the rest of the country.

“Now we have signed a new agreement that requires nationwide distribution in 2019.” As a result, they are investing in the future and strengthening all of the links in their value chain. That includes building a new freezer warehouse. Their partnership with EGD will help enable the company to achieve the owners’ vision of growth. The competitive environment in the grocery industry is changing, with chains increasingly having their own distribution networks.
