Description
Restored to its former glory
When EGD Property took over the property in 2013, it was rather run down. There was a basic café at street level, and the remaining premises consisted of offices and the remnants of various business activities.
The building services were inadequate, there were no escape routes, and the building did not comply with fire safety regulations.
After various dispensations had been given by the local planning authorities, we embarked on an extensive renovation project. Complex, wide-ranging structural work was carried out in parallel with design activities and obtaining the necessary permits.
“The renovation was completed in close consultation with the municipal cultural heritage and planning authorities. We have restored the building to its former glory, including its imposing ornate window frames and large windows.
“This has been done while also complying with universal design standards and current building regulations”, says Müller.
Nominated for an architectural prize
We have put a lot of time and resources into renovating the building, which we have done in close consultation with the cultural heritage authorities. We obviously think it’s fantastic to be rewarded by being nominated for a prize like this.
